Elegant Butterfly and Glimmer Paper

Hello again

I often start to make a card with a particular idea in mind and as I start, I think of another idea or I don't really like what I am doing and so I change my mind. The end card is often quite different to the one I first imagined. That's how this one started but I am very happy with the end result.

I have used Whisper White and Real Red for this card. The Butterfly, hearts and the Modern Label punched piece under the Happy Birthday are all using the Red Glimmer Paper which gives a lovely sparkle to this card. The hearts are punched from the Owl builder Punch and the butterfly is the Elegant butterfly.
The larger piece of white card is embossed with the Lacy Brocade folder and the smaller piece uses the Manhatton Flower embossing folder. These were the taped to Real Red card. The smaller piece of red and white was attached with Dimensionals.
"To a Wonderful Mother" is part of the Wonderful Mother stamp set and a tag from Hearts a Flutter Framelits was used to cut it. The Happy Birthday is from Create a Cupcake. (I lost this happy birthday stamp a couple of years ago and you wouldn't believe but I found it the other day, so just had to use it). The ribbon is Real Red 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain.
This card would also be nice for a Mothers Day card.

Easter Baskets

Hello

Today I have made some Easter Baskets (thanks to France Martin's instructions.)

This basket is from an A4 piece of card stock. Just trim the longer side to 11", the short side is correct size. Then score the short size at 2-7/8", turn the card around and score the same again. On the long side score at 1",2",3",4",7",8",9",10".
Fold at the score lines of 4" and 7" and the 2 score lines at 2-7/8". Then cut where it is scored at 1", 2",3",4",7",8",9" and 10" as shown below. Only cut to the horizontal score lines.

Next fold one side of flaps inwards and place into Square Lattice embossing folder. This folder will fit sideways into the big shot as shown below. I only put it through the big shot to the edge of the embossing folder, then wound it backwards to remove it.

Do this on both ends. The middle does not get embossed.
Next I trimmed a small amount from the middle flap, a triangle on each side and about 1/4" from the edge, so when the basket is put together it will fit nicely inside. Then pierce a hole in the centre if each of the 1" pieces about 1/4" in from the edge.

To put together, fold each of the 1" flaps towards to centre to get a good crease. Position the card so the long side is facing toward you. Taking the left hand 1" piece, place a brad through the hole from the front. It is best to use a brad with a longer shaft as its easier to get all the pieces of card onto it. Then add each piece in turn to the brad. Ensure the middle flap is folded to the inside at this point. Now taking the 1" pieces on the right hand side starting with the top or very right piece put each onto the brad. If it isn't done in the correct order it won't match the other side. Then put a hole in the middle flap and add to the brad.

Repeat on other side

To make the handle cut the top piece as shown from where the cut finishes one side to the other side.

Once cut, the pieces will move to form the handles. How simple!

I shredded some paper and put it the bottom and added the Easter eggs. I hope the Grandchildren will like them. I have already given 2 of the grandsons theirs as i wont see them on Easter Sunday, and they loved them, possibly the chocolates eggs more than the baskets!!

If you want to add a sentiment as I did on this one, I stamped Happy Easter from The Teeny Tiny Sentiments, cut a tag with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits and put onto the brad before assembling the basket.

Stampin' Up Supplies used:

Cherry Cobbler Card stock - 121681 - p 155
Square Lattice embossing folder - # 119976 - p 189
Antique Brads - # 117273 - p 174
Big shot - # 113439 - p 186
Cherry cobbler ink - # 126966 - p 155
Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set - # 120024 - p 133
Hearts a flutter Framelits - # 130159 - p 11 seasonal catalogue
Simply Scored Scoring Tool - # 122334 - p 181

Hope you have fun making this Easter Basket. This would also be suitable for a baby basket. My 4 year old grandson made the comment that it also looked like a baby capsule. I thought that was very observant of him.
If you want to watch a video on making this go to www.francemartin.stampinup.net
I have made a couple of small changes to her instructions. I trimmed the longer side to 11", and scored the shorter side so it was even. Also the way I put the card into the embossing folder I found worked and only had 2 layers of card instead of 3 to go through the big shot.

Thought for the day :
Good actions give strength to ourselves and inspire good actions in others.

Till next time

Create a Cupcake

Hi

It is one of our Grand daughters birthday this weekend, so this is the card I made today. I made the same style of card for our grandson a few weeks ago and he loved it, so here it is again for a little girl. She loves purples and pinks so hopefull she likes this Rich Razzleberry card.

This card is made from the full A4 size card stock and folded in half. To make this card I taped a piece of the Colour Collection DSP from the Brights Stack, onto the Rich Razzleberry card. I took another piece of Rich Razzleberry and punched with the Scallop Trim Border on the top and bottom, (doesn't show up real well on this photo) then added Rich Razzleberry DSP from the Polka Dot Parade. It would be best to use glue all over this so that when the window is punched out, the 2 pieces are firmly attached together. Punch using the Word Window to the desired length.
The cupcakes were made using Silver glitter paper for the icing, with the base stamped with Rich Razzleberry and the stamp from Create a cupcake. The Cupcake builder punch was used to punch the cupcakes. To put the one together for rolling, I cut a small piece of card (slightly smaller than the cupcake) and glued the cupcake to it. I used a 5 cent piece and placed it under the slot, added a Stampin' Dimensional to the coin then a second 5 cent piece, (so the second one is on the top of the slot), add two more Dimensionals on top of each other, then the cupcake. I taped a length of Stitched Grosgrain ribbon to the bottom of this piece before attaching this whole piece to the card using Dimensionals. I put 2 dimensionals on top of each other to ensure it is lifted enough for the cupcake to roll side to side. I also added Dimensionals around the slot, but don't put them too close to the slot as it won't allow the cupcake to roll. At each end of the slot I glued a button using Crystal Effects. This protects the ends of the slot with continual rolling.
"Birthday" is from the Bring on the Cake stamp set. "Happy" if from the Fabulous Phases. ("5th" is non Stampin' Up - sorry!).

Now when you tilt the card from side to side the little cupcake will roll along the slot.

Stampin' Up Supplies:

Rich Razzleberry card stock - # 119981 - p 153
Brights Collection DSP Stacks - # 117155 - p 162
Polka Dots Parade DSP - # 126902 - p 151

Little Friends

Hi everyone

The 2 little girls from the Little Friends stamp set was embossed for today's card, using Versamark and gold embossing powder and set with the heat tool.

French Foliage and Natural Composition Specialty Paper

Hello again

On today's card I made a flower from the leaf from the French Foliage Stamp set.

I stamped with versa mark onto Primrose Petals card and embossed with Cherry Cobbler embossing powder then set with the heat tool. I then hand cut these. To make the flower I punched a circle, applied glue and added the petals, overlapping each one. I then added a small flower to the middle, punched from Cherry Cobbler card using the Boho Blossoms punch, and finished it with a rhinestone. I curled the petals upwards with a bone folder. The flower was then attached to the card which is made from one of the papers from the Natural Composition Specialty paper. I love the look of this paper with glossy raised patterns.
The Cherry Cobbler on the right side of the card was cut with the Large Scallop Edgelits, then embossed with the Needlepoint border embossing folder. Remember, always cut before embossing, otherwise you will lose the raised embossed look. Rhinestones were added to the scallops for a bit of bling.
The sentiment from the Wonderful Mother stamp set, is stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink on Very Vanilla card, and sponged around the edges.

Flowering Flourishes on Shimmery White

Hello

A very quick and easy card for today using Midnight Muse and Shimmery White card stock. All regular visitors to my blog would realize I like butterflies, and yes I am using them again on this card.

I embossed the shimmery white with the Honeycomb folder, then attached it to the Midnight Muse card. The smaller piece of white was stamped with Flowering Flourishes stamp set using Bashful Blue ink. The Happy Birthday is from Curly Cute Stamp set and the ink is Midnight Muse. The Butterflies are from the Papillon Potpourri Set and punched with the Elegant Butterfly for the large one and the Bitty Butterfly for the small one. This small punch is from the seasonal catalogue. I added pearls to the butterflies and to the flower image. The butterflies were attached with Stampin' Dimensionals. As I said, its very simple but looks elegant using the shimmery white card.

Language of Friendship with French Foliage

Hello
Autumn is here so decided to make todays card in Autumn colours.
For the French Foliage leaves on this card I firstly inked the image with the Crumb Cake ink pad then with the More Mustard ink around the edges and stamped onto Very Vanilla card. When doing this technique always use the lighter colored ink first. This prevents transfer of a darker ink onto the lighter ink pad. After hand cutting them, I shaped them using a Bone folder.

The base card is Cajun Craze, then More Mustard with Vellum card on top. I embossed the Vellum with the Woodgrain embossing folder. The vellum was attached to the More Mustard with brads. The frame around the bird is using 2 of the Labels collection Framelits. The bird from Language of Friendship was stamped with More Mustard, then punched using the co-ordinating Bird Builder punch, then attached using Dimensionals. The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Banners and Bitty Banners Framelits and stamped with Cajun Craze ink. The leaves and sentiment were also attached with Dimensionals.

Stampin' Up supplies used exclusively:

Cajun Craze card stock- # 121683 - p 155

Build a Blossom and Print Poetry DSP

Hello

The Print Poetry DSP stack has beautiful designs and great for cards and co-ordinate beautifully with the current 2012-2014 In colours, so this is what I used on today's card.

I embossed the Very Vanilla card using the Lacey Brocade folder. I used Raspberry Ripple to mat both the DSP and the smaller piece of Very Vanilla.
The flower was stamped using Raspberry Ripple ink with the Build a Blossom stamp set and the petals punched using the Blossom Petals builder. To assemble the flower I punched a circle with the 1-3/8" circle punch and using 2 way glue placed the petals evenly around the circle, overlapping one side of the petals. I sponged the edges of the flower before stamping versamark over the flower and sprinkled with iridescent ice and set with the heat gun. The centers for the flower are cut from the Fun Flowers Bigz L die and the Itty Bitty Shapes punch set. I then added a rhinestone to the centre. The leaves were stamped with Gumball Green, again using the Build a Blossom stamp set and punched with Blossom Petals Builder. The Birthday sentiment is the Beautiful Birthday stamp. When assembling this card I used Dimensionals to lift the Raspberry Ripple and Very Vanilla card, as well as the flower.

Hello

I don't know if it shows up on this photo but I have finished this card with Frost White Shimmer Paint which gives a lovely shimmer to the card.

I started with Pacific Point and Whisper White card stock. I embossed the white card with the Fancy Fan folder, then added the Pacific Point Stitched Grosgrain ribbon and attached this to the base card. I stamped the images from Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set and punched out with the Postage Stamp punch and backed with pacific point card just slightly bigger than the punch. These were then attached with Dimensionals. The Happy Birthday is from the Beautiful Birthday stamp, and the ovals collection Framelits was used to cut the oval. I then finished it off by spraying using the Stampin' Spritzer with Frost White Shimmer paint mixed with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. It's advisable to test the spray on a spare piece of card to determine what distance to spray before doing it on the finished card. You wouldn't want to spoil it, so best to be sure first.

Create a cupcake birthday card

Hi again

This is the other birthday card I made yesterday for a 6 year old girl.

I cut the bottom of the Wisteria Wonder card using the Adorning Accents Edgelits. I then cut a piece from Elegant Eggplant and attached it to the card after embossing the Wisteria Wonder card with the Fancy Fan folder. I also cut a piece of Elegant Eggplant with the labels collection Framelits then embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots.

For the cupcake, after stamping the bottom part with Elegant Eggplant, I punched with the cupcake builder. On the top part of the cupcake I covered it with 2 way glue then sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds. I attached the cupcakes with Dimensionals. Countryside birthday

Hello again

I haven't made any cards for a few days as I have been unwell, but had to get back to my craft room today as I had 2 birthday cards to make. My husband said I must be sick if I haven't made any cards. This is the one I made for his birthday.

I stamped the old truck with versa mark and embossed with Cherry Cobbler embossing powder and set with the heat gun. Then I cut the piece into thirds, and mounted it to the Cherry Cobbler card stock leaving a small space in between. I used the cute little brads from the Vintage Trinket and also attached the sentiment from Petite Pairs which fits nicely into the tag from the Hearts a Flutter Framelits. I then attached this with Dimensionals to the Naturals Ivory card which I had embossed using the big shot and the honeycomb folder, after stamping with Crumb Cake using the French Foliage stamp set.

"Lego" Boys Card

Hello

My grandchildren love playing with Lego so here is a card with "Lego blocks". I cut the squares at 3 cm, then using the circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack, punched out 20 circles from each colour. I glued 5 circles on top of each other then glued the stacks onto the squares. Certainly looks like Lego.

Little Friends image was stamped with Pacific Point ink then I colored it with Real Red, Gumball Green, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight and Soft Suede inks using a blender pen.

Dinoroar 7th birthday card

Hi everyone
I've had a very busy weekend, then today had a card class here, so now I have just made a card for our grandson's 7th birthday. March is a busy month for family birthdays.

The DSP is retired (but it has to be used some time!)
The dinosaur at the bottom rolls along the slot when you tilt the card. Looks great as it rolls around. Hopefully my grandson will have fun with it.
I taped one piece of DSP to the card stock, then on a smaller piece of card added another DSP using glue to ensure it was attached all over. I cut the slot out using the Word Window punch. I started in the middle then kept moving the punch along to the desired length at both ends. The buttons on each end protects the ends as the dinosaur moves from side to side. I attached these with Crystal effects as it is a very strong glue. To make the dinosaur roll, I used two 5 cent pieces. Place one 5 cent piece under the slot, add 2 Dimensionals on top of each other, add the second 5 cent on top, then other dimensional, then the dinosaur. This means there is one 5 cent piece under the slot and one on top. This piece of card can then be attached to the base card. To attach it, I put two Dimensionals on top of each other to lift it up to allow plenty of room for the roller to move along the slot. I put the Dimensionals around the outside edge as well as around the slot. Just be careful not to have them too close to the slot otherwise the dinosaur won't roll around.
I cut the "7" out from the DSP to add to the happy birthday. The top dinosaurs were attached with Dimensionals.

Bloomin' Marvelous Birthday Wishes

Hi

It's been great having so many products to choose from for sale-a-bration this year. Bloomin' Marvelous is one such stamp set which I have used on today's card.

I combined Rich Razzleberry and Gumball Green. I was trying to decide what colour combinations to use so checked the colour coach. It recommended Old Olive, but then decided I really liked the Gumball Green. I probably wouldn't have thought of that colour combination but it does look great. I used the Very Vintage wheel for the subtle background on the white strip, using Pink Pirouette ink.

Supplies exclusively from Stampin' Up-

Rich Razzleberry card stock - # 119981 - p 153
Gumball Green card stock - # 127543 - p 152

Autumn colours with French Foliage

Hello

Autumn colours go beautifully with the French Foliage stamp set so that is what I have used in today's card.

To stamp the background, I used Stampin' Write Markers to ink the stamps, - four different colours randomly brushed over the stamp, then stamped the image onto scrap paper then stamped onto the card. This gives a more subtle image for the background - called "stamping off". The cut out leaves were attached with Dimensionals after using the bone folder to shape the leaves. I actually put one dimensional on top of the other for greater height and to allow the leaves to have more of a curve.
