Creative Elements

The flower from the Creative Elements is one of my favourites and used on today's card.

I have teamed up the Print Poetry DSP and the current In Colours with this stamp set. I spayed the flower with Frost White Shimmer Paint ( which was mixed with rubbing alcohol) for a lovely shimmer ( unfortunately doesn't show up in this photo), after stamping with Midnight Muse ink and hand cut. I stamped the Very Vanilla card with Crumb Cake ink, also using the a Creative Elements set.
The leaves were stamped using Gumball Green ink and card, with Build a Blossom stamp set and matching punch.
The Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punched the Summer Starfruit. Punches for the sentiment are the Decorative Label, Scallop Oval and Word Window. A bit if bling was added using Rhinestones.

Bouncing brayer technique and Owl Builder punch

Hi

One of the demos at convention was using the brayer and this one is the "Bouncing Brayer" technique.

I used this for the centre piece of the card. It's so simple - just ink up your brayer and touch it on the card, lift, touch card again and continue along the card. As you lift, give a slight roll of the brayer so it turns the brayer around. I really like the effect and various designs can be achieved. I used Daffodil Delight ink on Very Vanilla card. I liked how it became lighter towards the top of the card. If you want the same colour all the way, just re- ink the brayer more often.
The base card in Daffodil Delight was embossed with the Woodgrain folder. The Basic Black was punched with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border and attached to the piece of card which was brayered.
Other punches used are Owl builder, Bird Builder for branches, Decorative Label, Scallop Oval, Modern Label, and Word Window.
I wanted to use a black Glimmer brad but unfortunately had run out, so I rolled the silver brad in Jet Black StazOn ink.
The branches are cut from Early Espresso Coordination card and sanded with the Sanding block. It is easier to sand the piece of card first before punching as it will tear very easily once punched.
I also embossed the front of the owl using the hearts from the Adorning Accents folders.
The sentiment from Made for You was stamped with versamark and embossed with Basic Black embossing powder.

Betsy's Blossoms

Hello

Today I am showing some more convention swaps. It's great to see so many different ideas.
The first one uses Betsy's Blossoms and Everything Eleanor stamp sets and made by Samantha.

This simple but very effective card made by Judy uses the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and Framelits. Dazzling Diamonds give a lovely glitter to the hearts.

Lorraine used the clockworks stamp set for this card as well as the Argyle embossing folder.

The stamp sets for Angela's card are Papillon Potpourri and Blooming with Kindness for the sentiment.

Thanks again to everyone who shared their great ideas.

Thought for the day-

Don't forget, the current catalogue finishes on 30th June. If you wish to purchase any of these products please contact me.

Till next time

Tea for Two DSP

Hello again

Today we got together with some friends for a card class at Lyns and this is one of the cards we made. Check out www.lynwebb.stampinup.net for more of her beautiful creations.
This card has a beautiful vintage look using the Tea for Two DSP, Crochet Trim and Flower trim.

The sentiment from the Petite Pairs stamp set. The Ovals Collection Framelits were used as well as the delicate Doilies Sizzlits, and the flower was coloured using a Stampin Marker and blender pen. The Lacy brocade folder was used for embossing the Pretty in Pink card.

The 2nd card we made was a simple one but lovely using the Print Poetry DSP stack.

The sentiments are from Priority Mail stamp set, one of the Hostess sets, and the punches used are the Curly Label and the Petite Curly Label punch. The Raspberry Ripple Dahlia was attached with a glue dot.

Thought for the day-
What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?

Birthday card for gift card

Hello

This card today is great for including a gift card inside and of course can be designed for any occasion.

The Gumball Green card was cut at 12cm x 24cm and scored in half at 12cm. The top flap is cut from Raspberry Ripple using the Scallop Circle Bigz die with a Floral Frames Framelit to cut the Print Poetry DSP. The Scallop Circle was cut in half and the DSP was cut so it could be attached to the back of the Gumball Green as shown and folded to form the flap.

This is the card when opened. I used Raspberry Ripple and So Saffron, with an image stamped with the Flowering Flourishes set. Happy Birthday and A Gift for You are both from Bring on the Cake set.
On the front of the card I used the Very Vintage Wheel for the background on the So Saffron. I used versa mark but there seems like a bit of Ink from a previous card which shows a light pink colour. It actually suited this card so decided to used it. The brads are from the Antique brads and used Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine to wind around the brads to close the card.
Under the flap I added 2 flowers from the Boho Blossoms punch to cover the back of the brad. The punches on the front are the Decorative Label and Scallop Oval.

Hi everyone

Well, unfortunately convention is over for another year. It was a great 3 days and for anyone that didn't get there, you missed out on lots of give always, loads of fun and great inspiration, but hopefully you will get there next year in Melbourne. I was inspired by so many of demonstrators and demonstrations I don't know where to start.
I haven't had a chance to get any cards made since getting back home but thought I would share just a few of the swaps I got. There are so many beautiful ones, I just can't wait to make some of my own using some of the techniques learnt over the past few days.

These cards (from the top) were made by Alice, Janette, Karen, Sue, Jackie and Lyn. Thanks to everyone for sharing what we all love and enjoy, and for your friendship, both old and new.

Don't forget you can order all Stampin' Up! Products from my online shop. Just go to www.lesleyjendra.stampinup.net or email me at lesleyjendra@bigpond.com.au

Colouring Vellum with Stampin' Write Markers

Hello

I stamped one of the Delicate Doilies onto vellum using versamark with white
Embossing powder.

Once set, turn the vellum to the back and colour with Stampin' Markers as desired. I used Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo and Pacific Point, to match the card stock that I used for this card. I then attached this to a piece of Whisper White using the mini brads, and layered it with the other colours. The DSP is the Polka Dot Parade. I just turned over the corner and attached a brad to hold it. The Thank You uses the Itty Bitty Banners Stamp set and Framelits. The Pacific Point stitched Grosgrain ribbon is taped along the bottom and also used for the bow.

Blossom Party originals flowers

Hello

This week I attended a card class with my friend Susan and this is one of the pretty cards we made using the Blossom Party originals dies.

The flowers were cut using vellum, then using Pretty in Pink markers I coloured the flowers. I then embossed the flowers using the Perfect Polka Dot folder. The petals were shaped, then layered using glue dots. A small button was added with a piece of bakers twine forming a bow.
The scallop on The Whisper White card was cut using the adorning Accents Edgelits, then embossed with Delicate Designs folder. The leaves from Betsy's Blossoms stamp set was used to stamp the leaves using Gumball Green ink. A piece of Primrose Petals Stitched Satin Ribbon was taped onto the card then the flower was attached using a dimensional.
The Happy Birthday is from Perfectly Penned stamp set using Primrose Petals ink and clear embossing powder. With these new inks it is easy to add clear embossing powder as they don't dry as quickly, so it's great to be able to emboss any colour for that lovely shiny finish.
The Whisper White card was attached to Pretty in Pink base card.

Clockworks

Hello

I was asked recently how I come up with designs for my cards. As we all do, we get ideas from others, but I often just pick out some colours, often with the help of the colour coach, then look at a stamp set and try to design something from that. Sometimes it doesn't work and I change completely and other times it just comes together very easily. So here is today's card that I had no idea what I wanted to do but it came together fairly quickly. It's very simple and easy to make.

The colours used are Cajun Craze, Old Olive, So Saffron and Very Vanilla.
I used the Very Vintage Wheel and Old Olive ink on the Old Olive card. I tore the edge and sponged around the edge with Old Olive ink. On the So Saffron card I sponged with More Mustard. The watch was stamped with Cajun Craze and used the Stamp-a-Ma-jig to ensure all the stamps were stamped correctly. Another very useful tool which I couldn't stamp without!! This piece of card was then embossed with the Stripes folder.
Happy Birthday is from Fabulous Phrases and punched with the Postage Stamp punch. The tag from Hearts a Flutter Framelits cut the Cajun Craze tag. The brads are from the Vintage Trinkets.

Petite Pennants Builder punch

Hello

I got lots of cards made for my swaps yesterday so was really pleased. Now for today's card.
I used the Petite Pennants builder punch to cut the Polka Dot Parade DSP for this card. I taped the shapes to a piece of Whisper White card and added the Old Olive which was cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelits. The base card in Whisper White was embossed with the Chevron folder.

The Happy Birthday is the Beautiful Birthday stamp, and stamped with Old Olive ink. The Whisper White, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie were cut with the Ovals Collection Framelits and mounted on the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Hearts Collection Framelits

Hello again

I'm not sure what I would do without the Big Shot, as most of my cards use either embossing folders or Framelits or both, as in today's card.

The largest of the hearts Framelits was used for the base card. To do this, place the Framelit on the folded card, with the fold at the top as shown below.
This makes the card hinge at the top.

I embossed the Whisper White with the Fancy Fan folder. The Real Red was cut with the next size heart and the embossing folder used was the Lacy Brocade. I used the 3 smallest hearts for the 2 smaller Whisper White hearts and embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot folder. The larger of these hearts was attached with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Love You from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set was stamped with Real Red ink and cut with the Bitty Banners Framelits and also added with Dimensionals.

Countryside and Woodgrain

Hello

Today's masculine card uses Early Espresso, Cajun Craze and Crumb Cake
Card stock. The Crumb Cake was embossed with the Woodgrain folder and the corner was torn, then I sponged using Early Espresso ink around both the Crumb Cake and Cajun Craze card. These were taped together and 3 black Glimmer brads were used on the corners. This was then taped to the base card.

The image from the Countryside stamp set was stamped with versamark and black embossing powder and set with the heat tool. This was then cut with one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits. Another one was cut using Early Espresso card and offset behind the stamped image. Stampin' Dimensionals were used to attach to the card.
The Happy Birthday, from the Made for You stamp set, was stamped with Basic Black and cut using the same Framelit as used for the old pump, and cut the left side off. I sponged around this with Early Espresso ink.

Apothercary Accents and Print Poetry DSP Stack

Hi

I've had a busy but lovely weekend looking after 2 of our Granddaughters. The 5 year old loves to do crafty things so we made Mothers Day cards, and they both loved using my bits and pieces that I put aside for them. If there are any punched or stamped images that I haven't used, instead of throwing them out I have started keeping them so they can use them for their own creations.
Now for my card for today. A quick and simple one.

Using Whisper White for the base card, I embossed with the Fancy Fan folder. Then using the Print Poetry DSP Stack from the seasonal catalogue, I cut a piece 5 cm deep. I then cut 2 pieces of Raspberry Ripple using the Adorning Accents Edgelits and attached to the top and bottom of the DSP. This was taped to the card before adding the Whisper White Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon and bows.
The Happy Birthday is from the Bring on the Cake stamp set, stamped with Raspberry Ripple ink and cut with one of the Framelits from the Apothecary Accents. I added the mini brads and sponged the edges with Raspberry Ripple ink and attached this to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Apothecary Accents Framelits

Hi

I have used both the Apothecary Accents Framelits and Adorning Accents Edgelits for this card. After cutting the bottom using the Edgelits I taped a piece of Cajun Craze to the underneath of the Very Vanilla card. I pierced both the Cajun Craze and Very Vanilla using the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack and Paper Piercing tool.

I stamped on the base card and the piece cut with the Apothecary Accents Framelits using the French Foliage stamp set, with Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze and More Mustard inks. I used the "Stampin' off" method which means I stamped onto scrap paper before stamping onto the card so to give a subtle image. I cut a piece of Cajun Craze card with the Framelits, cut it in half and attached the the back of the Very Vanilla on the top and bottom. I also trimmed the ends from the Cajun Craze, and sponged the ends of the Very Vanilla with Cajun Craze ink. I used Stampin' Dimensionals to attach this whole piece to the card.
I stamped the leaves from the French Foliage stamp set onto Cajun Craze and More Mustard card and used the corresponding inks. The leaf on the Very Vanilla was stamped with the 2 inks. These leaves were cut by hand and shaped before attaching to the card and again added them with Stampin' Dimensionals. A button from the Regals Designer Buttons was chosen and attached to the leaves with Glue Dots.
Best Wishes is from the Petite Pairs stamp set and Happy Birthday from the Made for You stamp set. I stamped the sentiments using versa mark and cajun craze inks, added clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool. The tag is from the Hearts a Flutter Framelits.

Hearts Collection Framelits

Hello

Today's card is similar to yesterday's Fancy Fold card but I used the Hearts Collection Framelits for a Baby Girl card. The sizes are the same as yesterday's card ( 150 cm x 215 cm and scored at 54 cm and 108cm). The centre of the heart Framelits was put on the 54cm score line and the top plate for the "sandwich" is placed so the edge lines up with the score line before running through the big shot. See yesterday's card for photos.

The colours for this card are So Saffron, Primrose Petals and Wisteria Wonder. I sponged around the So Saffron heart with Daffodil Delight. The left hand panel was embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot folder. Because this embossing folder has to be put through the big shot sideways to only emboss this part of the card, the new longer embossing folders won't work. Any of the original shorter ones fit.
The Argyle Folder was used to emboss the Primrose Petals heart.
I cut a heart in Wisteria Wonder to place inside the card on top of the Primrose Petals card stock. The heart was positioned directly under the heart on the front of the card, so it's not seen when the card is closed.
The butterflies and sentiments were stamped with versa mark and embossed with gold powder. The Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly punches were used to punch the butterflies. The butterfly stamp set is the Papillon Potpourri, and the sentiments are from Baby Prints and Petite Pairs.
The modern Label punch was used for " so glad you're here", and trimmed on the right hand side so it fitted nicely on the card.

Fancy Fold card with Framelits

Hello

I like to make cards that aren't always the normal fold, so here is today's fancy fold card using the Labels Collection Framelits, although many of the Framelits could be used, so I will make a few different ones over the next week or two.

The card stock used in this one is Bashful Blue, Cherry Cobbler and Midnight Muse - the sweet set suggestion from the Colour Coach.
Cut the Bashful Blue card to 150cm x 215cm, and score at 54cm and 108cm.
Place the centre of the framelit on the 54cm score line, create your "sandwich" by placing the top plate with the edge at the score line and centre of the Framelit as shown below.

Run the card through the big shot. Only half the Framelit will cut the card, where the top plate finishes. Fold on the score lines to make the card.
I embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots folder on the fold on the left side.
I cut the Cherry Cobbler with the Framelit one size smaller than the one I used on the base card, then the next size smaller for the Midnight Muse. I embossed the Cherry Cobbler with the Lacy Brocade folder. I sponged with Bashful Blue around the Framelit cut out of the Bashful Blue card. I used Language of Friendship stamp set and co-ordinating punches for the bird and flowers. Midnight Muse and Cherry Cobbler inks were used for these.
Inside the card I added Cherry Cobbler, with Bashful Blue cut with the Framelits. This was lined up with the front so when the card is closed, it is hidden. It also allows you to write in this area.
I love You is from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and Itty Bitty Framelits.
Pearls are added to the flower centres and the bird's eye.
