The Natural Composition Specialty designer series Paper has a glossy raised pattern on Natural paper, and this Woodgrain paper which is part of this pack is ideal for this Owl card.
The base card is Early Espresso which was stamped with the Woodgrain background stamp using the Whisper White craft pad. I cut the oval in the Natural Composition paper using the Ovals Collection Framelits. I then cut an oval from Early Espresso (using 2 oval framelits) to go around the outside of the cut out oval. Before glueing to the card I used the distressing tool to roughen the inside edges.
The Owl was made using More Mustard for the body, Very Vanilla for the chest and part of the eye. Real Red and Basic Black are also used for the eye. I used the Perfect Polka dots embossing folder for the chest, and 2-way glue to assemble. Dimensionals were used to attach the owl to the card.
The leaves from the French Foliage stamp set were stamped using the "rock and roll" method. To do this, ink the stamp with the lighter colour of ink that you want to use- I used More Mustard. Then taking the darker colour, - I used Early Espresso and Cajun Craze - roll the edges of the stamp onto the ink pad then stamp onto the card. After cutting out the leaves I shaped them using the scoring tool. The sentiment is from the stamp set Bring on the Cake, stamped with More Mustard ink, cut with an oval framelit, sponged the edges with Early Espresso and Dimensionals used to attach to the card.
